FROM DUST TO HISTORY

In August of 2010 Mount Moriah Baptist Church will celebrate its 113th year as a Church and  landmark.  Over the course of history, Mount Moriah has served as a beacon of light and a solid foundation for the residents of Milford Texas and the surrounding area. Located 45 minutes south of Dallas, Milford is home to a population of less than a thousand . Our congregation is comprised of about 110 parishioners and is steadily growing as the Dallas metropolitan area expands outward. Our doors have remained open for well over a century and  since its inception we have pride ourselves on making welcome everyone that has entered through them. Mount Moriah recognizes the need to add to our infrastructure and to meet the demands of the 21st century church.

The aged condition of our building, coupled with the growing needs of our congregation and community, GOD has  challenged us to initiate the second phase of our building project that has already begun and your potential involvement in this project will bear dividends for generations to come..  Our basis for pursuing this project largely concerns the current educational/economic status and way of life of the community we serve.

Based on the 2000 Census figures, nearly 29 percent of the children in Milford, Texas did not complete their high school diploma requirements.

Of the 39 percent of students who did receive a high school diploma, only 8 percent went on to complete an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree.

Approximately 62.5 percent of families with children under 18 years of age in Milford average less than $15,000 gross income per year.  Of that percentage, 42.3 percent of families are classified racially white and 57.7 percent are classified as African Americans.

Nearly 30 percent of all housing units were built prior to 1939. Moreover, roughly 52 percent of Milford families spend less than 20 percent annually on house upkeep.

Clearly, these demographics demonstrate the Milford community's need for a facility that will host and  offer  solid educational alternatives, programs for personal and career growth and an environment where one can enjoy a sense of security and purpose while expieriencing personal advancement. Through such program offerings as weekly Bible Study,  educational training seminars, evangelistic outings, and regular scheduled church services, Mount Moriah will empower its congregation and invite its neighbors to join in our mission to "focus on What we can do instead of what we haven't done.

Mount Moriah has been recently blessed with the donating of five acres of land adjacent to its current church sanctuary and the purchasing of a pre-fab metal building that is scheduled to be delivered in May of 2010.  With your continual prayers and financial support  we can solidify our place in history by errecting our new sanctuary and expanding our current offerings.  Will you help us make history?

How can I help?     We're glad you asked!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have a host of program offerings that will allow you and  your organization the opportunity to help us make history and continue to inspire and equip others through our ministry efforts.
